2 The Eiffel Tower is a beautiful masterpiece, originally created as a gift for the 100 th anniversary of the French Revolution. The Eiffel Tower is made of 2.5 million rivets, 15,000 pieces of iron, and 40 tons of paint. It took 2 years to build, 1887-1889 It was designed in 1884.

3 The Eiffel Tower had about 700 entries on what it should have looked like, there were a lot of designs people liked, but it came down to the design you see today. The Eiffel Tower is named after Gustav Eiffel, who was the designer. The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France.

4 Today, the Eiffel Tower is used for a radio tower, and mainly, a tourist attraction! The Eiffel Tower is the most visited monument in the world. Since it’s opening, the Eiffel Tower has had about 250 million visitors.

5 After the 20 year lease for the Eiffel Tower, people wanted to demolish it and use it for scrap metal. In 2012 the Eiffel Tower will be 123 years old. The Eiffel Tower has 1665 steps, and from the top, you can see 37 miles away.

6 The Eiffel Tower is about 985 feet tall, that’s 108 stories high. It’s repainted every 7 years. In 2008, it was painted 19 times. Stephen Savvestre was the main architect, although there were 50 other engineers, 100 iron workers, and 121 construction workers, but the designer was Gustav Eiffel One person died, from construction.
