Everything You Need To Know!! Seasons of Sport Eligibility Try-outs Summer Programs P.E. Requirement Physicals and Paperwork

GET INVOLVED!!! Hart High has lots to offer. Choose a group and get involved. Whether its sports, arts, career, hobbies, writing, etc…. Just Do It!!!

Commitment Sports require a huge commitment of your time. Practices will last 2 or more hours a day. Game days involve late night commitments. Time management is critical to keep up with school work. Most sports have summer programs.

P.E. Credit and Sports Everyone must have 2 years or 4 semesters of P.E. credit. Sports counts towards P.E. credit. Each season of sport counts as ½ a semester. If you stay in the 7 th period class for the remainder of the semester you will get a full semester of P.E. credit. You can earn all of your P.E. requirements through sports.

Seasons of Sport FallWinterSpring FootballBoy’s BasketballBaseball Girls’ TennisGirls’ BasketballSoftball Girls’ VolleyballBoys’ Soccer Lacrosse Girls’ GolfGirls’ SoccerBoys’ Tennis Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Boy’s Golf Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming Boys’ Volleyball Boys’ and Girls’ Track

Eligibility What you need to do to be able to Play Maintain a 2.0 GPA – That’s a “C” Average Have an Athletic Clearance Form on file – This includes a physical from a doctor. You must have a physical for participation in a summer program. ( Once completed, the Athletic Clearance form is good for the rest of the school year.)

Try-outs Most sports have try-outs and will cut athletes in order to have a manageable team size. Some sports will take most players who come out as long as you have desire and commitment. (Football, cross-country and track are examples) Some sports really need players to fill rosters…softball, girls golf, boys volleyball, girls basketball typically are short in numbers.

Summer Programs The following sports have summer programs: Football – Girls’ Volleyball – Cross Country – Girls Tennis - Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball – Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer - Baseball – Boys’ Volleyball – Softball – Boys’ Tennis ************************************* Summer registration packets are being distributed today. Registration packets should be returned to the ASB office at Hart.

Specific Sport Information Each team has prepared an informational flyer for you to take home. Some flyers have information forms to fill out and leave here today.

Questions If you have additional questions after we leave today you may contact either of us at Hart. Mike Herrington Linda Peckham
