Why Earned Media is Important ä ä It’s a shortcut to reach the voters or general public. ä ä Lends credibility and believability to your candidate or cause that you can’t get through paid media. ä ä It’s free.

Mechanics of Media Coverage ä Appoint 1 person to handle earned media. ä Develop a reliable media list. ä Write smart press releases. ä Use advisories and photo releases. ä Conduct effective press conferences.

How to Attract Favorable Publicity ä ä Always look for the media angle in everything you do. ä ä Frame the issues. ä ä Ride the “wave”.
