News on mechanics Photon veto F. Raffaelli INFN – Sezione di Pisa CERN, January r 02 th, Status of tender Anti Status of the supporting mechanics Anti Status of design Anti Conclusions

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Status of Tender Anti Tender schedule The tender was sent out, after the request approval of the INFN, the 9/11/2009. The companies had three weeks to answer. The 3/12/2009 we received the offers. The technical adjudication was done the 15/12/2009. F.Costantini,A.Antonelli, F.Carassiti and F.Raffaelli. The documentation was transmitted to the INFN central administration on Jan The INFN leading board is expected to approve the tender middle of February. The order will be placed at middle of March. We’ll try to shorten the delay from the approval to the order release.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Status of Tender Anti Delivery Items N. 4 Anti: Drawing number P326-1/1 N. 4 Sliding rings: drawing number P326-1/2 N. 2 End covers: drawing number P326-1/3 N. 4 Leg Sets: drawing number P N. 8 Blind flanges ISO F200 N. 4 Blind flanges ISO KF 630. Transportation of each tube from the company to Frascati Transportation from LNF to CERN.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Status of Tender Anti Delivery Times The first tube, two end covers, four sliding rings and the 8 blind flanges ISO F200 must be delivered after 90 working days from order reception. The remaining three tubes must be delivered after 45 days from acceptation of the first one. Each tube must came with the blind flange ISO KF 630. Following this scheme the first anti will be at LNF at the middle of July. The end of the delivery will be at the end of December. Second anti beginning of September, third anti middle of November, fourth anti end of December. We visited the company (Fantini Sud) a week ago explaining our needs and they took a decision to anticipate the material purchasing in order to anticipate the first anti delivery at the middle of May.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Status of Supporting mechanics for Anti Parts of supporting mechanics Plates Spacers Plates C type 1 C type 2 Some modifications were made wrt the first sets, improving the assembly procedures and adding additional features to restrain cables. Plates to assemble the second Anti are ready. Spacers and C to assemble all the fours Anti and Material to make all plates have been delivered. Material delivered to Frascati: Spacers N C type 1 N. 180 C type 2 N. 180 Plates N. 80

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Test of Supporting mechanics for Anti Parts of supporting mechanics Plates

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Status of design Anti Parts of supporting mechanics Drawings of Anti and are completed. The Anti have been completely verified and we checked the production drawings. For Anti we have to complete the checking. The Anti 12 is still under discussion. All Anti are verified using the standard EN1344 Pressure European Directive (PED). Furthermore analysis on deformation were performed using FE Analysis.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Drawing for production of Anti 6 are ready including the supporting mechanics.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Cover and sliding ring

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Cover and sliding ring Weight inventory: Detector 6000 Kg Vacuum tube 4500 Kg Two Covers 4400 Kg We consider for the attachment lugs a total weight of 15 Ton. We modeled the tube with: - no covers on, supported by the four feet located at 30 degrees with respect to the vertical. - the transportation from the lugs. Total crystals number 240 Five rows of 48 crystals. The vessel thickness is 30mm.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Cover and sliding ring Deformation under four feet. 0.6 mm. Total vertical reaction Newton Horizontal Vessels on ring supports 16.9 Page 374 EN (E)

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Cover and sliding ring Deformation during transportation 2 mm. Total vertical reaction Newton EN Lifting lugs Anti page 356

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti Cover and sliding ring The required thickness for holding the vacuum is 8.8 mm, but considering that we want to achieve a mechanical precision of the order of.3 mm and that we have blind hole M20 in the shell a 30 mm wall thickness is adequate for stiffness requirements. The covers have a thickness of 45 mm when the required thickness according the EN (E) was 42 mm. Same criteria were applied for design Anti

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Design Anti 9 Geometry has been studied for four rows of 60 crystals for a total of 240 crystals. The overall length is 1430 mm and outer diameter 3146 mm.

F. Raffaelli - 02/02/2010 Conclusions & to do Since the second Anti will come in the middle of June and the others will come closer (every 1.5 months), we need to use this time to anticipate the preparation of the crystals and of the mechanics. We have to schedule the design completion and the tender dates for all the other Anti.
