By Deaveon and Hannah

In 1950 China’s communist leader Mao Zedong launched what became the Great Leap Forward. It was his attempt to modernize China’s economy so that by 1988, China would have an economy that rivalled America. This plan was also known as a second five year plan. Mao let even private land be used for growing crops. He also encouraged back-yard steel mills. In 1959 things took a turn, everyone was working on their steel mills and not crops. A lot of people starved. The back-yard steel mills used up a lot of coal and China’s rail system, which depended on coal driven trains suffered greatly. In 1959 Mao called it a frailer and cancelled it. THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD

Tiananmen square is located in the center of believing, the capital. Tiananmen square didn’t take palace in Tiananmen square but rather in the streets around it. Most of violence occurred on the avenue of eternal peace on the southern. Hundreds of students and supporters were killed. Hospitals were filled with cases prevented doctors from treating wounded demonstrators. In April 15, 1989, the Chinese government acting under martial law, deployed 200,000 troops in the beljiang Tiananmen square. For seven weeks, pro-democracy protects (which over half were students) freedom of the press and government account ability to forcefully remove the protesters. It was bloody resulting in the deaths between 500 and 2,500 people. TIANANMEN SQUARE
