Monsoons hit the southeast. They grow rice because it grows in water. Develop belief in ethnocentrism.

3 2. What were the causes and results of the Chinese Revolution?
Cause- Mao gained peasant support. Result- China becomes Communist under Mao. Creation of “Two China’s”- Taiwan and China.

4 3. U.N. Declaration of Human Rights. Violations.
Human Rights- list of all the rights that every human being is entitled to. Example- One Child Policy- fines, punishment, destroy property. Example- Tiananmen’s Square- Pro-democracy demonstration.- Students killed for protesting.

5 4. Terms related to Mao A. Red Guard- Mao’s military force
B. Red Book- Mao’s teachings and philosophy. C. Long March- Mao’s retreat into the mountains. D. Cultural Revolution- killed those who oppose him. Five Year Plan- Great Leap Forward- Didn’t work- Nickname- “Great Leap Backward.” Put peasants on communes.
