Regional News We celebrated in style at the Royal Armouries. Thank you to everyone who participated. Photographs of the event and the short film clips produced for each award category can be viewed now e on our website NHS Regional Leadership Awards Funding of between £750k (minimum) and £1.4 million (maximum) from the Leadership Academy has been provisionally agreed for the Yorkshire and Humber Leadership Development Partners for 2014/15 to support the development and implementation of national programmes within the region. The NHSYH Leadership and OD Strategy and business plan for 2014/15 has also now been agreed by the HEYH Board and LETB funding of £894k provisionally agreed to support this. A headline business plan will be published in the New Year YH Leadership Strategy, Business Plan and Funding We have organised two network events that I wanted to bring to your attention. Mentoring 30th January Leeds An opportunity to explore a range of mentoring approaches and to consider their contribution in your organisation. Delivered by PB Coaching. Health Coaching 11th March Barnsley This is a one day conference focussing on approaches that enable coaching conversations between patients and health professionals. This is an important new coaching discipline in coaching as well as in Organisational Development. I would be grateful if you would promote this event with senior leaders / clinicians and coaches with an interest in transforming the relationship between patients and health services. For further information please contact You can also connect with us on Twitter Coaching and Mentoring

National News New Applications by 10 January The Mary Seacole Programme is opening again for new applications on Monday 25 th November. All places, as before, are nationally funded and the application process has been improved to be simpler and easier to control. Applications are via the Leadership Academy web-site and marketing materials to help advertise and promote the programme are being completed now by the Leadership Academy. Materials will be passed to Leadership Leads as soon as they are available. We have 250 places for our region, but will lose this investment if the places are not taken as there are long waiting lists for this programme in the London Hospitals. The application window is from 25 th November to the 10 th January Further information: programmes/mary-seacole-programme/ Mary Seacole Programme Recruitment Begins for Spring Cohorts! As you may be aware the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) is one of the UKs premier graduate schemes and is constantly rated in the top 10 of the Times and Guardian’s top 100 Graduate Employers. Last year 100 graduates were recruited to the national scheme across four specialisms; General Management, Finance Management, Human Resource Management and Health Informatics Management. In 2013 Yorkshire and the Humber received 10 trainees across the four specialisms (General Management/Finance/Human Resources/Informatics). The number of trainees Yorkshire and the Humber will receive in September 2014 is yet to be confirmed. Our 2014 cohort are currently being recruited onto the scheme and so far over 12,000 graduates have applied since September. Expressions of interest are now being welcomed from YH organisations to host placements for GMTS trainees. In order to express an interest you will need to complete and return a two-part Statement of Commitment (SOC). If you have not received a SOC and the supporting documents then please contact as soon as possible. The deadline for part 1 of the SOC is the 17 th of January. Graduate Management Trainee Scheme Breaking News The new Fast Track Leadership Programme is likely to be advertised in the new year with 50 places nationally – 35 for clinical leaders and 15 for non NHS fast track talent The popular Nursing and Midwifery programme is being updated and re-launched in the new year The new NHS Healthcare Leadership model has now been developed and can be seen at adershipmodel/ Tools and training should be available in February adershipmodel/
