A haiku is a short Japanese poem that doesn’t rhyme

 It has only 3 lines  Each line has a specific number of syllables  It usually describes something in nature  But it can sometimes be written about feelings  It is written in the present tense about a single moment

 The first line of a Haiku has 5 syllables  The second line of a Haiku has 7 syllables  The third line of a Haiku has 5 syllables

Here’s an example… Winter snow slides from (5 syllables) The eave. Drops-plop-on my head, (7 syllables) As I walk under. (5 syllables) **Notice that each line begins with a capital letter.

 Write a Haiku of your own about fall. Check your work…  Does it have a 5,7,5 syllable pattern?  Does each line begin with a capital letter?  Does it talk about nature or a feeling?  Is it your best effort?
