Do Now Don’t forget our quiz today! Write the correct form of the irregular verb in simple past tense. Jessica __________ (to lose) her first tooth this morning. My entire family __________ (to catch) the flu last winter. Don’t forget our quiz today! Excerpt from: Acupuncture: Help or Hype? Tracy Wilson 5 Relatively few complications from the use of acupuncture have been reported to the FDA in light of the millions of people treated each year and the number of acupuncture needles used. Still, complications have resulted from inadequate sterilization of needles and from improper delivery of treatments. Practitioners should use a new set of disposable needles taken from a sealed package for each patient and should swab treatment sites with alcohol or another disinfectant before inserting needles. When not delivered properly, acupuncture can cause serious adverse effects, including infections and punctured organs. According to section five, what should licensed acupuncturists do BEFORE inserting needles into a patient? A) recycle needles used from a previous patient B) do a yin-yang balance measurement of the patient C) swab treatment sites with alcohol or another disinfectant D) insure that the patient knows all the risks of acupuncture

Do Now explanation Before inserting needles into a patient, acupuncture practitioners should swab treatment sites with alcohol or another disinfectant. While some of the other choices are indeed good things to do (or very bad things to do), only the correct answer is stated directly in the passage.
