2 A Cowboy’s Honor This is a short story about a man who loses something of great sentimental value and vows to fight it. Spur: a device with a small spike or a spiked wheel that is worn on a rider's heel and used for urging a horse forward.

3 Assignment: Improving Test Taking Performance by using Close Read Strategies
As a Group: Preview each question BEFORE you begin reading. Underline each question. There are vocabulary words in this passage: Cadence, Heirloom, Covenant. Define them in the margins. Group read: Read one column and then the next person will read. Underline the first sentence of each paragraph. Answer the multiple choice questions. Your group should have the same answer for each question
