Spatial Inequality in Mexico City and Detroit By: Carolynn, Tiffany, and Lucas

The Definition of Spatial Inequality The unequal distribution of wealth or recourses in a geographic area, so that places are richer than others.

This is a rich house in Detroit Houses in Detroit are luxurious with running water, electricity, security system, and high walls to keep warm and other people out.

This is a poor house in Detroit Poor Detroit citizens live in poor conditions. Even though they have clean water and electricity, they still don’t have enough money to buy what they want, or in some cases to survive.

This is a rich house in Mexico City The haves in Mexico City lives in a luxurious condition with water and electricity. They live in large castle-like estates with high walls and security systems. They hire the have not's to be maids, gardeners, and drivers.

This is a poor house in Mexico City The “Have Nots” in Mexico City are usually migrants from other places and they struggle to survive. Most of them lives in slums and the outskirts of Mexico City and their house is made of cardboard and other junks. They also don’t have running water and electricity.
