Depending on where about in Southampton there are different housing types for example if you live in: Central business district- This consists of flats and has a high cost of living in that there are a lot of shops and shopping markets. Because of this, they are usually privately rented or owner occupied. How does access to housing differ?

5 Inner City- This area mostly consists of terraced houses with a low cost of living because their purpose is for low income families and have essential services for families so it’s ideal. Inner suburbs- Semi-detached houses are most common for this area. It’s an average income family home that is mainly owned outright which the cost of living is around the same as inner city houses.

6 Outer suburbs- the cost of living in outer suburbs is high because you would have to pay more to get to public services for example you would have to drive to do your shopping or drive quite far to get your children to school.
