Cup Challenge

Stack your cups like this to start!

Materials 6 cups 4 pieces of string 1 rubber band Figure out a way to stretch your rubberband to move the cups and create a pyramid. You may not touch the cups with your hands. Each person can only touch one string to help move things.

Cup Challenge Rules Build a pyramid with only the string and rubber bands! When you are ready to begin the challenge you need to start your stop watch. You may NOT touch your partners string at anytime! Otherwise you will have to restart. You may NOT touch your rubber band at anytime! Otherwise you will have to restart. If you drop your cup on the floor, you may pick it up and place it on the corner of your desk to continue. Your hands may NOT touch the cups anytime they are on the table. Otherwise you will have to restart. No switching of strings during the challenge! When you are done building your tower stop your stop watch and record your time on a piece of paper!

Challenge #2 Start with your cups the way you did originally (3 pairs of two) This type stack the cups in a pyramid but the first row the cups will be right side up, the second row they will be upside down, and the top row will be right side up…see Mrs. C for a demonstration! Follow all the rules like before! Start your stop watch and begin…stop it when you are done!
