Day 1 Explore 2 Station 1 Rulers Hang a ruler over the edge of the table in a way that 8 inches of the ruler hang over the table. Use less energy by strumming it lightly. Use more energy by strumming it harder. What happened to the sound as the energy increased? Circle the word loud or soft to describe the sound on your record sheet. Day 1 Explore 3 Station 2 Rubber Bands Stretch the rubber band around the top and bottom of a plastic cup. Use less energy by plucking the rubber band lightly. Use more energy by plucking the rubber band harder. What happened to the sound as the energy increased? Circle the word loud or soft to describe the sound on your record sheet. Day 1 Explore 4 Make a tube out of the cardstock and secure sides with tape. Place the plastic wrap on top and secure with a rubber band. One partner uses less energy by humming lightly into the tube while the other partner observes what happens to the plastic wrap. Switch places and repeat. One partner uses more energy by humming loudly into the tube Circle the word more or less on the record sheet to describe how the plastic wrap moved.
