Reasons Why People Believe in God: Religious Upbringing

Features of a Christian Upbringing In pairs, come up with a list of the main features of a Christian upbringing. Think about how the parents will bring their children up as a Christian.

 Baptism – A Christian child is likely to be baptised as a baby. This is a Sacrament (a way to get closer to God). The parents promise to bring up their child as a Christian.  Confirmation. Parents will encourage their children to make the vows for themselves when they are old enough. The child will have confirmation lessons to learn about the commitment they will make. This is also a Sacrament.  Take children to church. Especially at Easter and Christmas.  Teach children how to pray and important prayers like the Lord’s prayer.  Send children to Sunday school to learn about God and Christianity.  Send their child to a church school so they can learn the National Curriculum in a Christian environment.

Features of a Muslim Upbringing  In pairs, come up with a list of the main features of a Muslim upbringing using the pictures below. Think about how the parents will bring their children up as a Muslim.
