College Council, Objectives Understand the primary factors affecting a student’s decision not to enroll –Continuing –New applicants Determine if there are changes that De Anza can make to increase enrollment Let these students know that we are interested in their attendance

College Council, List of Factors Consulted with Admissions & Records and Counseling Listed categories of factors Personal / financial Academic Student services Important that they select the primary reason for their decision

College Council, Survey Implementation Institutional Research provided the list of students who met the criteria and had Developed the survey form that had appropriate restrictions –Forced to select at least one item –Security Could not respond more than once Respondents were authenticated

College Council, Implications Course availability is important, especially for new students. From the comments: We have many students who are “one course takers.” Parking was mentioned as the No. 1 reason by only 8 of 1,061 respondents. 40% of the new students indicated they would give us another chance.
