In this lesson you will learn how to read basic right and left hand piano music.

 Go: Login to Week 3 and open Piano Basics document. Read, learn and play exercises on p. 12 through 15. To flip the document, go to View, then Rotate 2x.  Learn: Use pages 12 through 15 to learn basic piano concepts like staff lines and space names, notes, and rests.  Show: Ode to Joy and Exercise #7 on p. 15 before you leave for 10 points.

 Go: For 10 points, Login. In the Week 3 folder, open the Ode to Joy document and practice it for 10 minutes. Keep steady rhythm, good hand position & good posture.  Learn: Use pages to learn Left Hand Basic Music Reading for 10 points.  Show: For 10 points, play “Aura Lee” on p. 17 Exercise #7 on p. 19. I need to see both at the same time.

 Go: For 10 points, login right away and open the pdf document to p. 20. Play the song using both hands. Practice for 10 minutes.  Learn: Use the “How to Read Sheet Music” instructional video to learn how read basic music with both hands for 10 points.  Show:  1. The song on p. 20 using both hands for 10 points. 2. Be able to play any note I give you above or below middle C using the correct hand. Instructor: Staff note flash cards ready.

 Go: Run through your sheet music practicing right hand, left hand, and both hands as well as Ode to Joy for 10 points.  Learn: For 10 points, today you will learn how to better identify the notes on the staff. View the videos “Reading Right Hand” and “Reading Left Hand” in the week 3 folder.  Show: Show that you learned the names of the notes on the staff for 10 points. Quiz: Practica Musica, Hardcopy, or Flash Cards again.

 Go: Review your system for remembering note names on the staff right and left!  Start--Educational Programs---Practica Musica  Click Visitor----Open  Activities  #4 then #2, then Beginner  1.5 Bass Clef

Click ACTIVITIES, then 4. ACTIVITIES BY TOPIC, then 2. PITCH READING, then 1. BEGINNING, then 1.5 Reading Bass Clef. Then go to the top bar to NOTE NAMES and select Treble Clef. Do the activity and Show me when you’re done. Once I see your score, then do the other clef. Each time you’re done, press NEW & Complete the exercise. Show me when you’re done Your total score!

  IMPORTANT!! Practice Musica doesn’t ask for the SPECIFIC Note.  Redo the Alfred’s pages. Some are upside down.  Make sure the Ode to Joy doesn’t have any left hand chords.  Add songs  Fun-Pink- Just Give Me a Reason  Superman Theme  2b. Students were learning by ear. Maybe pianos have to be off for this one. Then as a follow-up, they have to play again and listen to it!  Have staff note flash cards ready for Lesson 3c.
