Update of beam dynamics target for the LHC correctors A.M. Lombardi FQWG

The effect of the field harmonics on the dynamic aperture should be such that the local integrated effect over half lattice cell should not exceed by more than 10% the effect of the MB and MQ (backed by DA tracking). Tolerance for the field harmonics 1.Rescaling from the MB and MQ error table 2.Dedicated studies only for problem cases

trim quad, lattice sextupole and octupole vs. MQ Field(T)Length (m)number MQ MQT/MQS MS/MSS MO MQTL(I,H) Roughly in the same ballpark some cases might need closer view / dedicated study

orbit corrector and “MB spool” vs. MB Field (T)length (m)number MB MCBH/V MCS MCO MCD factor : quite forgiving!!!

history FQWG mar04 : present tolerances by rescaling from the MQ and MB error table of the time meeting aug04 : update of the tolerances for the MQT,MS and MO as the MQ error were revised. More measurements of correctors. IDENTIFIED mpoles that needed more study.

conclusion in aug 04 MO :ok MQT : systematic a4 (3 vs. 1.8), systematic b10 (-15 vs. -2) random b3 (17 vs. 15), random b4 (8 vs. 3) MS : systematic b9 (-5 vs. 0) systematic a4 (2.8 vs. 1.3) random b4 (10 vs. 2.3) random a4 (12 vs. 10.5)
