Blood Spill Disinfection Steps

If you accidentally cut yourself… 1.If you get a cut, stop the service immediately 2.Clean the area well 3.Apply an antiseptic 4.Use a glove on your hand before you go back to cutting your client’s hair

If you accidentally cut your client… 1.Stop the service 2.Immediately put on gloves 3.Clean the area with spray antiseptic use a cotton ball 4.Cover the injury with a band-aid

If you accidentally cut your client… 5. Clean client and work station - You may need to change the cape and towel around the neck or sanineck strip 6. Put all disposable contaminated objects such as wipes or cotton balls in a double-bagged trash bag 7. Place a BIOHAZARD STICKER on the bag 8. Place the bag in a contaminated waste bin

If you accidentally cut your client… 9. If you were using a razor and cut yourself or your client, remove the razor and dispose in a “SHARPS” Box 10. Remove your gloves and wash your hands with warm water and soap 11. All tools and implements that come in contact with blood must be immersed in an EPA-registered, hospital grade disinfectant that kills HIV-1 and Hepatitis B Virus
