FOUNDATION There are many different designs on how to make the foundation but all of them consist of rebar (around 15 miles total) and lots and lots of concrete!

TOWER They are usually around 280 feet Bigger at the base (15ft) and gets smaller at the top (8ft) Replicated after the triangle because it is the most sturdy shape Purpose is to support the whole top part and to create height

NOSE CONE and BLADES The nose cone is the piece that is pointed at the front. It holds the hub and the pinch drive Also it is where the blades connect There are three blades in each turbine which must be all the same and balanced Each blade is 126 feet long and is hollow It is made out of wood and fiber glass They are designed after airplane wings The blades and the whole top part are able to move according to how the wind is at that time.

NACELLE and DRIVE TRAIN The nacelle holds all the turbine machinery. Because it must be able to rotate to follow the wind direction, it is connected to the tower by bearings. The build-up of the nacelle shows how the manufacturer has decided to position the drive train components (rotor shaft with bearings, transmission, generator, coupling and brake) above this machine bearing.

Each wind turbine is connected to the transformer located at the foot and inside the tower. The electric energy produced is sent towards the public distribution grid through a delivery station. TRANSFORMER
