Presentation transcript:

Ice Storm School Year Your missions and tasks for the RCX robotics tournament.

Salt Storage Two tables are placed side by side. (eight foot walls touching) Each table will have a different colored Lego ball. (found in Lego kits) In the middle of the two eight foot walls the teams will share a Salt Storage Station. (Pictured below) Your task is to deliver the ball to the Salt Storage Station. The other team will also have the same task. Lower level-10 pts, Upper level-25 pts The ball starts in the safe zone. The board will be scored at the end of the 2:30. See deliverables in the R21 yearly rules section.

Telephone Pole Pull the telephone pole out of the ground (it’s holder). The pole is located on the 2x4 wall. Pull out-30 pts, Pull out and deliver to safe zone- 40 pts.

Retrieve Roof Retrieve the Roof from the CCS Roofing Company to the safe zone. To safe zone- 15 pts. The Roof will be placed just like this picture. NOT like the video. See Retrievable Objects R22 in the yearly rules section.

Fix Roof Deliver the retrieved CCS roof to the house for 15 or 30 pts. The house will be against the wall and on the blue line. To score place the roof from CCS Roofing over the red Lego’s on the house, in such a way, as not to see any red for full credit. First Picture. 0 points. Second picture shows a team has attempted to fix the roof and it is covering a portion of the red. However, you can see red showing. This scores 15 points. Partial Credit. Third picture scores 30 points. No red. 12 3

Airplane De-ice the plane by removing 1 to 4 of the Lego’s on the wing. Score points for each piece of “ice” taken off of the wing. Remove one-5 pts, two-10 pts, three-15 pts, all four-25 pts. You’ll notice some attached Lego's underneath the plane. This will be pushed up against the wood walls to help secure the plane.

Clearing Tree Remove only the white tree from the road for 45 pts by moving the white tree off the black line. Do NOT move either of the black trees. If black trees are (visually) moved, points will NOT be awarded. The three trees can be anywhere on the big black line and they will be in continuous order. They will be aligned by the small lines. Thee trees will be rotated at the judges discretions. Remember the board is scored at the end of the run. Big Black line Continuous trees, but order may change.

Snow Plow Snow plow is placed on the board. Retrieve the plow to safe zone for 15 pts. This is the view from the safe zone.

Telephone Pole Raised The telephone pole is connected to the house. Raise the pole upright and restore the power to the house. Raise the pole so it stays upright and is past the top of the house for 25 pts.

Ambulance Open the ambulance door for 20 pts. To score open the door until it is past the black line and only in the white area.

Medicine delivery The medicine starts in the safe zone and will be delivered to the house labeled, Medical Emergency. Score 10 pts if the medicine is touching any part outside the house. Score 15 pts if the medicine is entirely inside the house. Medicine is just a 2x4 brick

Airport- end the robot At the end of the 2:30 run… If your robot is touching any part of the rectangle area labeled “Airport” you score 15 pts. Your robot doesn’t have to be entirely inside the rectangle.

Snow Pile Removed Move the “snow” into the red RCX circle. The five snow piles are the penalty items. I.e. touch the robot outside of the safe zone and the judge will take a snow pile starting with the one outside the circle and closest to the safe zone. As the robot is touched the judges will work their way into the circle. If the judge picks up all five snow piles no other penalties are accessed. (Teams will just not get the points.) Score 5 pts for each snow pile moved to red circle (penalty Item) (5 pts) Score 2 pts for each snow pile left outside of red circle. (penalty Item) (2 pts)

Rules Prepare your team…READ The Rules Page has annual rules and the Q&A page has rules for the Ice Storm contest only. The Q&A changes daily.
