The three ships: Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery arrived at Jamestown May 13, men and boys founded the colony. It was the first English settlement in America.

The Jamestown Church Tower dates from It was build on the Jamestown colony site.

Jamestown houses were built with thatched roofs. The houses were framed with wood and built with mud. Then a fort was build around it.

People wear costumes like the clothes worn a long time ago. You can see this in the Fort James exhibit.

This is a master glassblower. He makes glass for lanterns and cups. His chair lets him shape the glass.

Pocahontas was the Indian princess daughter of Chief Powhatan. She saved the starving colonists in She married John Rolfe.

This is a picture of Captain John Smith. He was leader of the colony and helped the colonists survive.

The Jamestown Monument celebrated Virginia’s 300th birthday. The U.S. government built the monument in 1907.

A statue of Captain John Smith is on Jamestown Island. It marks the first English settlement in America.
