Develop an understanding of how to model your 2D design idea Develop understanding of how to ergonomics can inform design Learning Objective(s) Demonstrate that you can model your 2D design idea into a 3D shape. Demonstrate that you can accurately model your 2D design idea into a 3D shape. Demonstrate that you can accurately model your 2D design idea into a fully functioning 3D shape. Must Should Could Today we will learn the following:

Handle shows evidence of saw marks and some evidence ‘rocking’ filing. How to level my work Level 4 Level 5 Handle has some file marks, and has largely been cut to a good standard Handle edges have been filed using either cross filing or draw filing to a good standard (no marks) No ‘rocking’ of file, flat filing to a good standard on most edges, abrasive paper has been used to a good standard (some marks) Cast project shows evidence of ‘rocking’ filing, little use of different grades of abrasive paper. Level 6 Handle has no ‘rocking’ of file, flat filing to a good standard on most edges, emery cloth and wet and dry have been used to a good standard (no marks) Excellent finish.

How to evaluate your model against the anthropometric data How to identify and record modifications in your design Learning Objective(s) Demonstrate that you can evaluate and modify your model against design criteria Demonstrate that you can critically evaluate and modify your model against design criteria Demonstrate that you can critically evaluate and modify your model against design criteria and justify your changes Must Should Could Today we will learn the following: HW: Design Problem

Learning Objective(s) Today we will learn the following: Plastics There are two main types of plastics – Thermoplastics which are softened by heat and can be moulded. (Injection moulded, blow moulded or vacuum formed). Good examples are acrylic, polypropylene, polystyrene, polythene and PVC. Thermosets which are formed by a heat process but are then set (like concrete) and cannot change shape by reheating. Good examples are melamine (kitchen worktops), Bakelite (black saucepan handles), polyester and epoxy resins.

Learning Objective(s) Today we will learn the following: Acrylic Comes in a range of thicknesses, colours and can be opaque or transparent. There are two type of acrylic extruded which is cheaper and very "plastic" and cast which machines better but is harder and less flexible. HIPS 9High Impact Polystyrene Flexible, comes in a range of shapes and colours, can be vacuum formed and laser cut
