Concepts Found in U.S. History (GA D.O.E. Connecting Themes/Enduring Understandings)

The focus of this important first unit is on concepts and themes that the student will be exposed to in U.S. History, rather than addressing specific content standards. – These concepts and themes are organized according to the Cultural Approach to History

Location The student will understand that location affects a society’s economy, culture, and development. A 1740 map of Paris.

Production, Distribution, and Consumption The student will understand that the location, customs, beliefs, and laws of the society affect the production, distribution, and consumption of goods/services produced by the society Experimenting with mounting body on Model T chassis. The student will understand that in a democracy, rule of law influences the behavior of citizens, establishes procedures for making policies, and limits the power of government.
