What is an alternative energy resource  An alternative energy source is intended to replace fossil fuel sources such as oil and coal.  Here are some alternative energy sources:  Nuclear power, wind power, solar power, tidal power, Geothermal power and Hydro-electric power

How does it work Wind power works by the sun heating the atmosphere and some places may become hotter than others. The warm air rises and other air blows it which causes the wind

Advantages of Wind Power Some advantages of Wind Power are: It is totally FREE when everything is built! It doesn’t produce any greenhouse gasses! You can still farm in areas with Wind Turbines! Wind farms can be tourist attractions.

One of the disadvantages of wind power would be The wind is not always predictable, some days there is wind, some days there aren’t. This means some days you will have to go without electricity. So you will not be able to use electric powered items. E.G Toaster. The second disadvantage of wind power some people find it unsightly. This means some people would not like to look out the window, and see a wind turbine.

Explaining my choice!  Why our group decided to use wind power as an alternative resource was because Ireland is always windy, if we had a couple of wind farms around Northern Ireland it would contribute a lot to the energy being produced.  It is better than fossil fuels because you do not harm the environment and went the wind turbines are built, its virtually free!  Why we choose this over is other alternative resources is because solar power would not work in northern Ireland because we do not get enough sun. and nuclear has to spend a lot on health and safety!

Conclusion!  We think that wind power would be a good alternative resource for Northern Ireland because it always windy in Ireland, and there is plenty of land to put the wind turbines on! There is not enough sun for solar!
