Main Charaters   Hades Persephone Zeuz Demeter

Demeter Demeter, is the goddess of the crops and harvest.    Distraught when she cold not find her daughter, Demeter wandered over the face of the earth trying to find out what had happened to her.  She is known as the motherly figure of the goddeses.

Hades   Hades, son of Cronus and Rhea received the Underworld for his realm, when his brother gods, Zeus  and Poseidian received dominion of the sky and sea. Hades is the enemy of all life, gods, and men. Since nothing will sway him, he is rarely worshiped.

Zeus Zeus is the father of Persephone.   Zeus is the father of Persephone.   Zeus made a deceving plan with Hades(the god of the underworld) and helped Hades abduct Persephone. Zeus tryed to save Persephone, but because she ate the fruit she has to go to the underworld once a year.

Per                Persephone    Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology.   She was one day picking flowers when Hades from the underworld abducted Persephone and raped her. Considers to be a beautiful goddess, and can change the world   Daughter of Zeus Makes the seasons come and go. Goddess of Hope

Persephone playing with her friend as Zeus watches over them One day Persephone was playing with her friends as her father Zeus was watching down over them from the sky above.

Persephone picking the flower that changed her life As she was playing with her friend, a beautiful flower caught her attention. This was the exact flower that her father was hoping she would find. As she picked the flower the earth began to spilt into two, and life after that was forever changed.

Hades, whisking Persephone off her feet because he is in love with her. Soon from the ground Hades, the god of the underworld emerged. Before Persephone could say a word Hades whisked her off of her feet and took her with him back down to the underworld, which she was deeply terrified of.

Demeter looking for Persephone Persephone's mother Demeter searched high and low after finding out her daughter was missing,  she could only tell she was missing becuse everything around her started to die, and her own hopes seemed to be to faded as well.

Demeter burning the village child After searching for her Daughter, Demeter was taken in by a family who was trying to take care of her, since she had become very old and wrinkled due to the stress and searching of Persephone. Demeter became friends with the families son and offered him the gift of immortality by sticking him in a fire and burning him every night and taking him out before the next morning. Once the familie found this out they were extremly angry at Demeter but she was qucikly forgiven and the familie built a temple in Demeters honor , so everyone else could know the secret to immortality. After the temple was built Demeter continued on her search for her daughter. Demeter burning the village child

Persephone happy with being the queen of the underworld. Soon a messanger who was sent down by Zeus to the underworld to check up on his daughter was shocked to see that Persephone was happy as being the new queen of the underworld and living as Hades wife.

Persephone eating the seed's that Hades gave her Persephone who loved her new life in the underworld, also greatly missed her family. Hades told her all about how Zeus set up everything that is now going on in her life. As much as she loved her new life she really wanted to go back and see her mother, but didnt want to leave Hades at the same time. So Hades tried to help her out by making her eat the pomergranare seeds, from his hand which was the fruit of life. He told her how he understands she had duties as a daughter and he let her leave the underworld to see her family.

Everyone was so happy that Persephone was back even the flower and all of earths nature was back to life, everyone was happy except for Persehpone. Zeus quickly relized that the life they knew of Persephone would never be the same again because her lips were stained with the fruit of life. So he as much as he didnt want to her arranged for Persephone to return to the unerworld with Hades, in hopes of her returning on days. Persephone not happy about leaving the underworld

Persephone finally is in love with Hades back in the underworld Once Persephone returned to the underworld she was extremely happy to be back as Hades wife. Following the rules of her father she returns back to her mother each spring to tell the story of rebirth, hope and harmony. Each fall when she leaves for the underworld, her mother along with morther nature mourns as winter comes and they wait for her  to return again in the spring. However Persephone has no regrets about any of this since she always looks forward to guiding everything that has lost is way into it's next phase of life.

Man vs. Metaphysical Zeus peered down on Persephone from the sky above.   Hades, god of the underworld, used his majestic powers to capture Persephone into the underworld.   Hades wanted to explain his actions to sweet Persephone.  Demeter wanted to thank the family for their kindness. So she attempted to offer the child the gift of imortality.  Zeus sent his messnger Hermes to find Persephone In order for Persephone to come back to earth she had to be as pure as she was when she was abducted.

MMan vs. Metiphysical lesson The lesson is that god's whether they are good or bad have a lot of power. In this case they are very selfish and use it to their ultimate advantage.

Cosmological Myths(Man vs. Nature) On earth everything is ripe and blooming Persephone above ground, spring and summer. Underground fall and winter Demeter waits for Persephone to come  around again in the spring and summer,  thats when life comes again Persephone enjoys the time she has, knowing that time will run out

Cosmological Lessons Persephone and Demeter are dependable on eachother with time.   Earth is dependable on Persephone, there are two seasons to stock upon food for the winter.  Enjoy what you can, there is  only little time. Everything changes

Sociological man vs. Man) ·      Strong relationship with: Demter, Zeus, Hades, and friends. ·  Saw a flower that caught her eyes attention, this was the flower that her father Zeus wanted her to see. ·   Persephone was lost; her mother had such strong love for her that she went out searching for her. ·    Hades and Persephone fall in love, but she would rather be with her mother and father. Very strong relationship with all of her family members   When she picked the flower, the earth spilt into two and her life was changed from there on out, Zeus set up all of this. Mother had such a good relationship with her that she was the only person to go out looking for her onces she noticed she was missing. Persephone was a first forced to be Hades wife, but than actually falls in love with him over time and loves her life as the queen in the underworld.

Sociological man vs. Man) ·    Demeter while searching for her daughter is taken in by a family and soon they grow to love her. ·    Persephone took on the role of the Underworld Queen, but wanted to be with her family ·    Hades respects her wishes and lets her go back to her family. ·    Zeus send's his daughter back to Hades and she learns to help guide people in their life, in the Underground World as their Queen. The familie first hates Demeter because she was giving their son the gift of immortality, which showed them the true person she was. They soon forgave her and she  demanded that they build a temple in her name to show the rest of world the secret to immortality.   Persephone loves to be the Queen of the underworld but still misses her mother at the same time and wants to return home but doesnt want to leave hades. Later Zeus realizes that Persephone really does love Hades and sends her back to the underworld but making sure that she returns every spring

Sociological Lesson ·           It's important to have people in your life that love and care about you. Having good relationships with these people will only benefit your life. ·   By having special people in your life will only make all the changes you go through in life seem a little easier to deal with. At first you may not like change in your life, but if you give it some time your thoughts may be changed. you need to have people in your life that love you, because you never know when you will need them to help you out. These people also are your best supporters. Going through changes doesnt always mean that they are bad things, good can come from anything if you just give it a chance.

Man Vs. Self (Pyschological) In the myth, Persephone, the characters had had many battles within themselves.   Persephone's mom, Demeter, had struggled throughout the whole story. Demeter had spun into a great depression and seemed to forget about her duties as Goddess of Grain and Growth when Persephone went missing halfway through the story.   She was so sad that she forgot all about her duties and just watched the plants die.

Man vs. Self (Continued) Demeter was so depressed and robbed of all her vital energy that she appeared an old, wrinkly women to the naked eye.   She wandered the Earth searching every where for Persephone. In one version of the myth Persephone struggles with herself about whether or not she should eat fruit from the underworld. She eventually gave in and had to return to the underworld for a season each year.

Man Vs. Self- The lesson The lesson for Man Vs. Self is to always keep your family close. Family is an important element to have for life.   You never know what can happen at any point in time. Always watch what you are doing and who you hang around with. Sometimes you can't always get what you want. There are times in some peoples lifes when they have to adapt to their surroundings because not everything will work out in the way you wish it would.
