1ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 EUROMISS EUROpean Marine Information System of Systems S Pouliquen, Thomas Loubrieu ECOOP plenary meeting Athens February 2007

2ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 EUROMISS Role  EuroMISS within ECOOP : oProvide integrated services to the ECOOP products oHarmonise the data flow of real time and near real time ECOOP products  But what are the ECOOP products and the ECOOP services

3ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 The ECOOP products  A product consist of high resolution ocean environmental variables with geographical and temporal indices provided on an operational basis.  They are subdivided into model and observational data products. oThe model products can contain both analyses and forecast data. oThe observational products contain the quality controlled raw observations and analyzed or gridded observational data  They are produced either by forecasting centres or observation thematic assembly centres.

4ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 The EUROMISS Services Must be compliant with Inspire  3 services are requested: oDiscovery : capability to discover the products generated within ECOOP  Build an ECOOP catalogue oViewing: capability to provide an integrated viewing service to some of the products registered in the ECOOP catalogue  Connect to an integrated viewing service oDownloading : capability to ease access to some of the ECOOP products  Feed a product inventory Distribute the products according to pre-defined rules

14ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008

Discovery service : to be done  BY WP8 oUpdate/Validate ISO 19115/19139 XML profile for ECOOP metadata requirements based on Mersea and SeaDataNet developments oUpdate/Validate MERSEA metadata search engine for ECOOP requirements.  By Product providers oFill in the Product description sheets

16ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 The Viewing Service

17ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008

18ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 Download  Only Free access datasets provided on THREDDS (version 3.16) servers will be accessible via this interface  To be able to know which data is available : Update an inventory

Download client : search tab geographical area data servers and federating data servers other search criteria : time, depth. datasets relevant according to search criteria

Download client : subset and save data locally Select the most relevant dataset. select subsetting criteria Download the data

Download client : subset and save data locally save as netCDF file Download the data

23ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008

Download service : to be done  Identify the providers that are willing to provide their product that way  Install and configure data servers (e.g. Thredds Data Servers, dapper for in-situ datasets ) for data providers which do not have one yet.  Validate the data access services (according to a convention agreed within ECOOP project).  Provide access to the federated dataset inventory

25ECOOP Plenary Meeting Athens 2008 As a summary what a Product provider needs to do to be seen within EUROMISS  To be visible on the Discovery system : oFill the catalogue description form  To be visible on the Viewing service oEither set up a Thredds server to provide your products oOr provide a WMS service to your data  To be Visible on the Download desktop oUpdate the Thredds inventory with your products releases ( Mersea convention) oSet up a free access to you products via a Threeds /OpenDap server
