Near Future RT seismic stations for the CTWS There will still be gaps in RT seismic coverage from Cuba (communications), Colombia (no available stations), Haiti (PRSN working with the OAS for 1 or 2 stations), Venezuela (MOU required) and UNAM, Mexico (limited contact/participation in CTWS).

Seismic and Tsunami Data Flow Cooperation Programs of the PRSN

PRSN/FEMA and NOAA TsunamiReady Tide Gauges NOAARSPR

Positive Development of Seismic Instrumentation in the Caribbean and Middle America 1.Drastic improvement in the number of broad-band instruments in the region 2. Densification of instrumentation in several countries (most notably Nicaragua) 3.Use of real-time communications for most of the seismic stations 4.Development of Caribbean Tsunami Warning effort as a regional endeavour

Still to do … 1.Seismic networks concentrated on epicentral locations and magnitude estimations in their own regions 2.No formal mechanism for the exchange of data. (CTWC is an important initiative) 3.Little interest for scientific collaboration with neighboring operators/scientists 4.Many networks focused only on locations. Need to develop other products for societal benefit

Need for capacity building to benefit from the data and develop The products for societal benefits Densification of geophysicists!
