What is the Registry? ?

The Registry is a Database that Contains Windows XP’s... Hardware Settings Object Properties O/S Settings Application Options

6 Warning! The registry is the data base Windows XP uses to keep track of the configuration. Improper use of the registry can render Windows XP useless! Incorrect registry settings can prevent the computer from booting!

7 Rules for making registry changes. Should be done only by those who know what they are doing. To be used only for those changes that can be made only through the registry. All other changes should be made through the various Windows XP Utilities such as through the Control Panel.

8 Best Practices Before making changes to the registry, make a backup copy. Do not replace the registry with that from another machine. Do not attempt to edit the registry with any tool other than the registry Editor. Do not leave the Registry Editor running unattended.

9 One Last Warning! Mistyping just one single line can cause you computer not to boot up the next time you try.
