Introduction to Drug and Alcohol Services in Warwickshire provided by the Recovery Partnership.

The Recovery Partnership came into existence in December It replaced drug and alcohol services that were previously provided by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust - NHS, Trust the Process Counselling, Swanswell Charitable Trust, Warwickshire Probation Trust and West Midlands Police. The Recovery Partnership is provided by Addaction and Cranstoun, two national substance misuse charities who between them operate over 100 specialist services.AddactionCranstoun

Services are based at five sites: Nuneaton & North Warwickshire Stratford & South Warwickshire Rugby Leamington & Warwick Coventry

Our treatment options follow a 3 stage process to move people through addiction and into recovery. These include: 1.Engagement and Motivational Services 2.De-Addiction Treatment Services 3.Integration and life adjustment services

Treatment options available include: Open access information and advice Harm minimisation advice Needle Exchange Blood Borne Virus prevention and treatment (including screening and vaccinations) Criminal Justice Interventions Hospital Liaison Structured Psychosocial Interventions Pharmacotherapy (prescribing) In Patient detoxification (drug and alcohol) Structured day programmes (group work) Employment Support Health checks and advice Complementary Therapies (where available)

Main evidence-based psychosocial interventions utilised with clients include: Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) ITEP/BTEI (mapping) Motivational Interviewing (MI) Solution Focussed Therapy Family Therapy (where appropriate)

Individual client sessions will often deal with the following areas Decisional balance (pros and cons) Exploring personal history of use Current problems/barriers Resources and strengths Problem solving Motivation to change Goal setting/action planning Planning for the future Decision making Solution mapping Building self esteem Challenging negative thoughts and behaviours Dealing with stress and anger Building social support Relapse prevention/dealing with a lapse Dealing with cravings Reducing risk Planning for detox /rehab Exploring treatment options Dealing with emotions Working through resistance Reviewing progress Preparing for group work Arranging appointments

Structured Day Programmes These are structured sessions, in a group setting which run on a regular basis in the community. They aim to provide aftercare for those clients who have achieved abstinence and want support in maintaining it, as well as assisting in relapse prevention. A good follow up option for those leaving detox/rehab or those who have been stable for a while and shown commitment to their treatment plan. Aim to build skills in problem solving, motivation, stress management, self efficacy, social support and communication. Current groups include: Process group, Managing Me, Assertiveness, My Map of the World (self exploration and values) and drug/alcohol knowledge groups.
