Get started Obtain Excel spreadsheet with coordinates. Open spreadsheet in Excel. If there are multiple sets of coordinates with an Excel Workbook then copy each Tab as its own Workbook. Place cursor in top left corner (cell A1). (Fig. 1) Move cursor slightly to the left, click and drag down to highlight all of rows with heading text. (Fig. 2) Click the right mouse button and click Delete – all of the heading information will be gone. (Fig. 3 and 4) Move the cursor to the column to the right of the latitude minutes and enter a capital N or S (for northern or southern hemisphere). (Fig. 5) Place the cursor on the lower right corner of the cell border. A dark + will be shown Drag the cursor down to the last row in this column. This will copy the “N” or “S” to each cell. (Fig. 6) Repeat this process with a “W” or “E” following the longitude minutes. (Fig. 7)

On the top menu, click “File”, then “Save As”. (Fig. 8) A dialog box will appear. Enter the name of the file that you wish to use. For example “100 fathoms” Select “file type” and scroll down to “CSV (Comma delimited)(*csv) (Fig. 9) Click Save A message will appear about not supporting multiple spreadsheets, Click OK (Fig. 10) An other message will appear about non-compatible features, Click Yes. (Fig. 11) Close Excel More messages will pop-up that repeat the questions you just answered Do you want to save, Yes (Fig. 12) Does not support multiple spreadsheets, OK (Fig. 13) File name, Save (Fig 14) Already Exits, Yes (Fig 15) Not compatible, Yes (Fig 16) At this point you are out of Excel and have saved a Comma Delimited text file.

Open Nobelcon (Fig. 17) On the menu at the top, select File and select the file type that you wish to create. (Fig. 18) A dialog window appears and asks for the name of the file you wish to convert. (Fig 19) Select the file that you saved with the.csv extension, and click Open A dialog box appears and asks for the name you want Nobeltec to label this Route or Boundary. (Fig. 20) In this example 100 fathoms would be a choice, Click OK. (Fig. 21) A dialog box appears and asks for the name that you wish to give the input file that Nobeltec will load. Once again a name such as 100 fathoms works. Click Save. (Fig. 22 and 23) Nobelcon will ask if you wish to convert any other files, If you are done, Click No. If you have other files, click Yes and the process will repeat. (Fig. 24) You are done.
