  To investigate officer-involved incidents in Benton/Franklin counties which involve great bodily harm or death  The investigation shall be performed in a manner that provides both the appearance and reality of a thorough, fair, complete, and professional investigation that is free of conflicts of interest  Special Investigation Unit was formed in late 2010  SIU Commander has sole authority of this case Mission & Purpose of SIU

  The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) completes a comprehensive criminal investigation just as they would investigate any other homicide that would occur in our jurisdiction  The Pasco Police will conduct their own administrative investigation with their Internal Affairs Investigator.  The 2 investigations happen concurrently but separately.   As in any homicide investigation, we can’t comment on issues that would jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.  We can’t provide analysis of the investigation to this point.  We can explain the current status of the investigation and what will happen next to provide a tentative timeline for new information to be released.
