3 CURRENT MANPOWER IN DISTRICT 1 We currently have 13 Deputies assigned to the Indian Land area 1 District Commander - Lt. Colie Trimnal 3 Deputies per shift (4 shifts for a total of 12 deputies) Support staff and investigative services are attached to the main complex in Lancaster One Investigator commonly works District 1 with assistance in major investigations coming from the main complex No Narcotics officers are assigned to District 1 on a permanent basis

4 ESTIMATED GROWTH Lancaster County is the fastest growing county in South Carolina at a rate of 3.3% per year (The Rock Hill Herald – March 26 th, 2015) Lancaster County is the 26 th fastest growing county in the United States (The Rock Hill Herald-March 26 th, 2015) Indian Land (District 1) is the fastest growing area in Lancaster County. Based upon our current growth (not projected growth), we need 25 Deputies (6 per shift – plus the District Commander) just to maintain our current level of service

5 OPTIONS TO IMPROVE SERVICES The Sheriff’s Office is proposing a Special Purpose Fee District to provide Enhanced Services to the citizens residing within the Special Fee District (Indian-Land & Pleasant Valley Fire Districts) If approved, this area would be funded to provide 12 additional Deputies 3 Investigators that would be permanently assigned to the Special Fee District that would include Narcotics Investigations as well This would increase manpower to 9 deputies per shift, the District Commander plus 3 Investigators if the five year plan is followed

6 WHAT WOULD IT MEAN FOR PATROL? Increase visibility which in turn reduces crime Reduced response times Responses to multiple incidents without jeopardizing officer/citizen safety Allow PROACTIVE patrols to prevent and deter crime Increase Officer presence at our schools Increase Officer presence in problem areas Increase traffic safety measures ect.

7 WHAT WOULD IT MEAN FOR INVESTIGATIONS? 3 Permanently assigned Investigators within the Special fee District Responsible for investigating crimes such as homicide, armed robberies, burglaries, larcenies, fraud, identity thefts and serious assaults Would be responsible for conducting Narcotic and Drug investigations within the Special Fee District Additional Investigators, Crime Scene Units, Crime Scene Analysis and other Specialized Units would still be available
