Citizenship is NOT required to receive WIC services. Legal Status Participation in WIC will not impact a participant’s ability to receive other services or to attain citizenship.
WIC clients also receive benefits from other Assistance Programs OHP 70% SNAP 50% TANF 10%
What happens at a WIC visit? A WIC counselor will… Measure for height and weight Assess iron levels Complete a health assessment Offer nutrition education Refer to a nutritionist or community resources
Trained WIC Staff All WIC staff have been trained in providing good customer service and motivational interviewing.
WIC counselors… talk to you about good nutrition and give you vouchers for healthy foods.
Fruit and Veggie Vouchers! Cash value-vouchers (mainly $6 & $10) for fruits and vegetables for children and women Choose from fresh and frozen fruits or vegetables

Farm Direct Program Includes WIC Clients & Seniors Department of Agriculture, Oregon Health Authority, Seniors & People w/Disabilities WIC clients and seniors receive $20-$60 to use during a season WIC participants can take fruit & vegetable vouchers to the farmers market! Season runs from June-October
Breastfeeding support Oregon’s breastfeeding initiation rates are the best in the US! WIC offers: Peer to peer counseling Breastfeeding classes Breast pumps (??? List key breastfeeding activities in your agency)

What is new for 2014? All WIC participants will get a card instead of paper vouchers to buy WIC foods. This will simplify grocery shopping for everyone.
