Leveled Literacy Intervention Frameworks Update December 2009

What is LLI? LLI is a highly effective, small group, supplementary intervention designed for students who are struggling as readers and writers. The goal of LLI is to help children achieve grade level literacy expectations. LLI contains 300 systematically designed lessons based around 300 carefully leveled, original books Teaching centers around 4 critical areas:  Reading texts  Writing  Phonics/Word Study  Oral Language Learning

Key Characteristics of LLI LLI supplements, and does not substitute for classroom reading instruction. Daily, thirty-minute lessons Small groups of 3, assures close observation and maximize interaction, individual learning and accelerated progress. Short-term program. Average of eighteen weeks of instruction to bring children to grade level performance. Strong classroom connection. Each lesson provides links to the classroom and record-keeping documents can be shared with the classroom teacher.
