We are all shepherds within our community We all share responsibility for the children in our community Move from ‘Me to We’ We can disagree without being disagreeable

Sustainable Decision Making Process

Tuscany Planning Committee (TPC) Process Guiding Principles  Community  Sustainability  Education  Economics  Family  Transparency  Simplicity  Current Status

Consider what parents want for their children Keeping families together Youngest to stay in community Limit enrolment Students within walking distance, stay. Fiscally responsible Those bussed to St. Basil be bussed to Msgr. Doyle rather than St. Basil Combining Green and Yellow options – include siblings, have a boundary and not provide bussing to St. Basil. Accept families who drive children to St. Basil That the decision has already been made

Public Participation Process Feedback (Advisory) Senior Administration will make final decision, but your advice and input will influence this decision The intent is to have a decision and advise parents before the end of March

Tuscany Community Catholic Enrolment Year K-Gr9 Regular Program Students Fall Fall Fall Fall

Tuscany - St. Basil Preschool Census (Separate only and Public or Separate School Supporters)

Tuscany Enrolment and Projections Capacity: 12 core classrooms + 18 portables/modulars = 30 spaces in addition to ancillary rooms. Enrolment: 800+/-

Accommodation Options for a Sustainable School Enrolment Adjusting grades offered at the school Limiting the admission of new students into the school, typically at the kindergarten entry level by siblings, walk limit, and/or community. Changing the designated attendance area of the school

All K and GR1 students attend Monsignor Doyle School. In subsequent years, additional grades as necessary would also be directed to Monsignor Doyle. This to be determined based on space availability and enrolments at St. Basil School. Option: Green Adjusting grades offered at the school

Option: Blue Limiting the admission of new students All existing students remain at St. Basil New admissions limited to Kindergarten siblings of existing students Second priority, where space and resources are available, would include Kindergarten students from within the walk limit New Gr1-9 admissions will be accommodated at Msgr. Doyle and Our Lady of the Assumption

Option: Blue Effective 2009 – Limits K intake to the 85 identified Kindergarten siblings of existing students. Effective 2010 – Allows all new Kindergarten registrants to attend St. Basil for the 2009 school year. The non- sibling Kindergarten students will be redirected to Msgr. Doyle for Gr1 in 2010.

Option: Yellow Changing the designated attendance area of the school Define a new Tuscany attendance area from which students would be designated to Monsignor Doyle and Our Lady of the Assumption

Option: Pink Other New Ideas

Opportunity for discussion on all 4 topics with 4 different groups of parents Allows for as much interaction with as many people as possible Provide feedback and input on 3 options (green, blue, yellow) and share any ‘New Ideas’ (pink) that have not been considered Please go to 4 different tables with different parents each change Facilitators at each table
