The Failure Cases For The Timer of Washing Machine

The diagram for the place of “0” or “OFF” on types of the timers 0(OFF) Motorized Timer Spin TimerWash Timer

1. No work (Stopping Vibration) ——Wash Timer A. If the knob is not reset, which means the knob is back to the place of “0” or “OFF” (short for “0” below), you can consider the failure from stopping vibration and this is the timer failure. Stop in the half way Stop at the beginning

1. No work (Stopping Vibration) B. If the knob is back to “0”, but when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the timer is not on work or stopped in the halfway, you can consider the failure from stopping vibration and this is the timer failure which is similar to 1.A.The related pictures is the same as which for 1.A.

2. No work (Slipping)-Wash Timer If the knob is back to “0”, but when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the knob kicks back at once or back to “0” quickly, you can consider the failure from timer slipping and this is the timer failure. If the knob is back to “0”, but when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the knob kicks back at once or back to “0” quickly, you can consider the failure from timer slipping and this is the timer failure. kicks back at once Back to “0”

If the knob is back to “0”, but when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the knob kicks back at once or back to “0” quickly, you can consider the failure from timer slipping and this is the timer failure. kicks back at once Back to “0”

2. No work (Slipping)-Motorized Timer No slipping happens for Motorized Timer.

3. The contact failure from contact point and reed A.If the knob is back to “0”, but when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the timer is on work in normal. a You can use some test instrument like a multi-meter to test the outgoing line of the timer. Wash timer has one power input wire in connection with power line, and also has 2 motor output wires in connection with the motor. One power input wire and either of 2 motor output wires is in the test range, if the test instrument states the regular in-off signal, then it is certified that the timer is in normal. If the test instrument states power on or cutting off for a long time while either of motor output wires or both of 2 motor output wires, and the power input wire being connected, you can consider it as the timer failure. a You can use some test instrument like a multi-meter to test the outgoing line of the timer. But if it is stating the failure of the timer, the test for the switch should be applied. If the switch is OK so the timer is broken down. In this case, please change another switch to test the timer again.  The test method for water flow optional switch:  When you use multi-meter to test the switch terminals or outgoing line, if the instrument states in-off signal in normal while rotating the switch knob, it is certified the timer is OK, otherwise, the timer has the defect.

3. The contact failure from contact point and reed  Remark: To avoid the misjudgment of the defect from the timer when the actual defect is from the spin safety switch of the washing machine, you can make the safety switch in short circuit before you test the timer. 3. The contact failure from contact point and reed B. If the timer knob is back to “0”, and when you rotate the knob by clockwise, the timer is on work in normal. When the knob is back to “0” again, if the washing tub or spinning tub continues rotating, you can judge the contact point of the timer is not cut off and this is the timer failure.

 When the timer needs to be detached for defect analysis, special tools and clamps MUST be used by the trained professional person. If non-professional person detaches the timer, it will cause new defect and make the defect causes disappear, in result of no way to analyze the defect, we therefore suggest not detaching the timer for analysis in your company.
