Alcatraz Island Alcatraz Island, referred to as( 别名 ) "The Rock". Alcatraz, which is from Spanish, is the name of a bird---alcatraz ( 鹈鹕鸟 ). Today, it has another meaning, that is devil( 恶 魔 ). Angel Island For thirty years, from 1910 to 1940, Angel Island in San Francisco Bay was the first, often the only, toehold （落脚点） in America for immigrants from China. During the time they spent on the island, as little as a few days, as long as three years, they carved and ink brushed their thoughts onto the walls.
