Intellectual property rights Law on Science and Studies Art. 82 Part 1: “Science and studies institutions have the ownership of property rights, arising from results of intellectual activities, gained according to the agreement or according to the order, set by laws.” Recommendations for Lithuanian science and studies institutions regarding the rights arising from the results of intellectual activities, approved by the order of the Minister of Education and Science (December 1, 2009).

Science and business cooperation  Support for companies implementing R&D activities  State support for the employment of highly qualified personnel in companies

Support for companies implementing R&D Tax reductions  Triple deduction - expenses incurred by companies while carrying out R&D can be deducted from taxable income thrice.  Super-accelerated depreciation – the acquisition price of fixed assets used in the R&D activities can be written-off within two years.  Eligibility - all investments into R&D qualify, irrespective of the type of company or the investment sum. State support for the employment of highly qualified personnel in SMEs (18.38 M €)  Aim: increasing the number of highly qualified personnel in SMEs, promoting R&D in knowledge intensive sectors of economy  Target group: highly qualified personnel (researchers, R&D operating personnel with tertiary education degree and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience)  Continuous call (till Dec. 31,2012). Financing up to 50% of all eligible project costs. Duration of the project – up to 3 years for 1 company and the employed person. Eligible costs: wage of the employed person, travel and mission costs, fees for participation in the events, relocation costs.
