Education before Computers  How were things done before?  Watching a video  Projecting a worksheet to the class  Conducting a lecture  Researching for information All of us might be able to share their experience. What about kids these days?

Adoption of technology in education  England: Every single school have been put on a high tech path  Canada: Codemakers receive $1.5m to get kids to code  Chicago: CS as a core subject in all public high schools “Computer coding is the new literacy”

Problems caused?  Not every topic is appropriate for all age groups  Technology is powerful for learning and cheating  HIST101 in the future may include cursive penmanship and hand- editing

Problems caused?  “Autokorrect”  “my dog ate my homework” is now “there was a glitch in my homework”  $$$

Problem solving…  Kids under 18 should always be supervised  Emphasize more on grade-important tests  Hand writing classes  Minimal software requirement

The future of education with computers  Parental control programs  High-tech testing centers and anti-plagiarism software  Cheaper software and hardware for students  Plagiarism detection software  Keystroke recognition devices

“Flipped classroom”  Instructions online, outside of classroom; do homework at school  Currently running at a $3m trial  Teachers act as guides
