  The Salem witch trials occurred in colonial Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693  Colonists believed that witches could control people’s thoughts  People thought that any inexplicable thing that happened was because of the witches. The Beginning of a Horrific Era

 Several centuries ago, Christians, and those of other religions, had a strong belief that the Devil could give certain people known as witches the power to harm others in return for their loyalty.

  The outbreak of witch accusations in the late 17 th Century is one of the most well-known events of America's colonial period  Girls who first began accusing townspeople as witches, may have very well been "acting" in the court room.
