Earthquakes are the Earth's natural means of releasing stress. When the Earth's plates move against each other, stress is put on the lithosphere. When this stress is great enough, the lithosphere breaks or shift.

THE RING OF FIRE Earthquakes happen around the ring of fire. Also earthquakes happen in the Virgin Islands. The ring of fire is made up of different plates. Like the pacific plate, Philippine plate, north American plate, Cocos plate, and the Nazcs plate. Earthquakes can happen in California but not as recent as Alaska. Alaska has an earthquake almost everyday which is pretty amazing. The reason is stress between to tectonic plates release that stress and the plates shift.

Earthquakes play a role in people’s lives. Earthquakes can destroy your homes, cars, jobs/ businesses, ect. Also earthquakes can kill people by how the structure collapses them. Around 67% of people are killed by earthquakes.

Emergency response plans for earthquakes can be every serious. You should have a medical pack ready cause you never can tell when an earthquake will appear. In these picture you can see various items for an earthquake. You can have more also. When an earthquake happens you should go underneath something like a table something big. So you should have an emergency response plan ready for an earthquake.

Jarred Beckley 7 Alpha 11/18/08 Letter to President Dear Mr. President In my research I have found interesting facts about earthquakes and volcanoes. In this letter I will tell you about those facts. Also I will answer your questions you might have. I have also found some scientific discoveries you need to know about. Earthquakes can occur in different regions through out the world. These areas include places such as; Alaska, Virgin Islands, Russia, and Japan. Earthquakes also occur near bodies of water and in isolated regions. As you can see earthquakes can happen all over the world. To determine what parts of the world are prone to earthquakes one must look into the history of the country to see how many earthquakes that country has had. The more earthquakes they had the more likely they will have more earthquakes in the future. You could also invent some new technology to determine what parts of the world are most prone to earthquakes. Those are some ways to determine what parts of the world are most prone to earthquakes. There is a relationship between earthquakes and volcanoes. There are several relationships between volcanoes and earthquakes. One relationship is that they are deadly and can cause million dollars in damage. Another reason is small islands could be destroyed because earthquakes can cause volcanoes or vise versa. As you can see earthquakes and volcanoes can be related in some ways. Earthquakes can be caused by an eruption of volcanoes, or if an earthquake has a greater magnitude then it could cause another earthquake in other areas. Also earthquakes can be caused by movements of tectonic plates. There are different kinds plate boundaries like divergent, convergent, and transform boundaries. That is what could cause earthquakes. Thanks for choosing me to do this assignment. I hope I answered your questions and that is what you are looking for. Thanks for this great opportunity. Thanks for your time to sit down and read this letter. Thank you very much. Sincerely; Jarred Beckley

I have found some interesting facts as you can see in my power point. Earthquakes can happen all over the world. You should all was have an emergency response plan. Earthquakes have a big roll in people’s lives. Earthquakes can be every deadly. If you hear about an earthquake listen to the news cause you could help those people in need. Also the earthquake could be near your state. Always that natural disasters serious cause that could be you someday.
