 7-2 =  9-5 =  12-6 =  15-4 =  =   35 -9

 What beautiful flowers! One display won a blue ribbon. It had 28 flowers. Seven of the flowers were white roses. How many of the flowers were not white roses?

 Read  Ask 3 questions: 1)What do you know? ▪ One display won a ribbon. The display has 28 flowers. 7 flowers are white roses. 2)What do you need to find? ▪ The number of flowers in the display that are not white roses. 3)What information is unimportant? ▪ One display won a ribbon.

 Plan  Find the difference between the total number of flowers and the number of white roses. You can subtract.  Solve  28-7 = 21 flowers  Don’t forget your P.A.L!

 Mrs. Potter won 14 ribbons. Mr. Smith won 15 first-place ribbons and 2 second-place ribbons. How many ribbons did Mr. Smith win in all?

 The Garden Club made 18 displays for the show. One is a flag made with red, white, and blue flowers. The flag has 17 flowers in it. There are 6 red flowers and 8 white flowers. How many blue flowers are there?

The other players should try to solve it too.  Check your answer on the back of the card. ▪ If you are right, stay where you are. ▪ If you are wrong, move back one space.  The first person to the FINISH, wins!
