BACKGROUND ON THE MASAI TRIBE IN KENYA They are 1 of the most well known tribes in Kenya, particularly because they offer a glimpse of traditional Kenyan culture. The general health of the community is poor. Masia men, known as morans, wander in search of green pastures for their herds. Their houses are made of wood braches, cow dung, and polythene papers. Nutrition and food hygiene are also of concern. Women are submissive to men. Women are encouraged to and typically do give birth every year. Each pregnancy is a great danger to both the child and the mother.

ED COLINA The Ed Colina foundation believes the at early childhood education is a priority. He graduated from St. Xavier high school class of 1972, and Xavier university received a degree in theology in 1976 and later a masters in education. Traveling to Africa, Ed volunteered with a renowned organization and NGO nyumbani Ed completed a number of educational, agricultural, and building projects in a remote area of Kitui, Kenya

1 REASON YOU SHOULD DONATE Most kids in Africa never go to school. If they do go they usually don’t go until they are 10 or 11 years old. Most don’t graduate 8 th even fewer go on to high school Girls have an even further disadvantage: they have to complete a number of chores before the long 8 km trek to school. This school that we are building is going to be closer to the village, so the kid won’t have to walk so far any more.

2 ND REASON WHY YOU SHOULD DONATE The kids that go to the school will be fed, and educated Most of the kids in the Masia tribe in Eluaai are hungry and the kids that go to the school will be fed Ed has 3 other schools that feed kids lunch Nutrition and food hygiene are of concern and the school will give them that nutrition.

The arrow points to Eluaai (where we are building the school)

PLEASE DONATE As you could see from the last slide we need approx. $2,500 to build Highlands Kenya (the school we are building) the school will contain books, desks, and a water tank. The kids will receive food and water for lunch. Go to edcolina.com and click on the tab labeled donation to donate please help these under educated kids.

Thank you
