System is now Position and not Employee centric Staff (A&P and Classified) move in and out of positions Faculty positions are tied to the employee +

When hired to work in a specific position, the incumbent inherits the attributes of the position Department Job code, Job title Position title Role and functions Hours per week Work schedule FUNDING Required Training Supervisor Etc.

When the incumbent leaves the position, the position retains its attributes Department Job code, Job title Position title Role and functions Hours per week Work schedule FUNDING Required Training Supervisor Etc.

Phase I – November Introduced Web based system with Position concept for A&P and Classified Phase II – November 3 rd, Brings Faculty, Students and Affiliated Workers into HRMS. - DEFINE from an HR perspective goes away. Phase II.5 – March Brings the Budget process into HRMS - Mass Update Capability

Positions are required for everyone - Faculty, Staff, Students and Affiliated Workers. Appointment document creation and management will no longer be done by departments across campus. Appointments will be fully generated out of HRMS when any employment action is taken. Appointments are replaced by Assignments. Category of Affiliated Workers - volunteers, contractors, visiting researches, etc. is introduced. Concept of Pooled positions is introduced for Student and Affiliated Workers.

Position now contains funding data. Multiple appointments to accommodate separate funding will no longer be necessary. Partial day leave without pay (LWOP) processing is available.

Training will begin in October 2009 See Training & Development’s Fall 2009 Newsletter for classes and sign up instructions. Visit the Training & Development website at Watch UTSA Today for additional details.
