What do you know about the life cycle of a butterfly? Buddy Time! Let’s create a KWL chart!

Read aloud… Let’s go to the carpet and read pages 1 through 13 to learn about the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly!

Look at this picture. What are some body parts that you notice?

Head Contains the compound eyes, antennae, and the proboscis. Antennae  Help butterflies smell and feel Proboscis  Long tube that works like a straw to suck up nectar. When it is not being used, it stays rolled up. Compound eyes  made up tiny little eyes Abdomen Biggest part of the butterfly Contains the heart, digestive system, and a few other important organs. Thorax Chest part of a butterfly 4 wings are attached to it: The 2 wings closest to the head are the forewings. The 2 wings closest to the tai are the hindwings. 6 legs are attached to the thorax
