Becca VanAuken

-The United States contributes about 22 percent of the worlds carbon emissions -Cars and Trucks emit 20 percent of the United States carbon emission -Using air condition and heat accounts for almost half of electricity use in the average American home -Drastic climate change is linked to stronger hurricanes, more drought, and increase of disease carrying pests

Travel changes: -Walk or bike instead of driving everyday -Carpool -Buy more economically friendly vehicles -Inflate your tires ( it will burn less gas and emit less carbon) Recycle: -Products made from recycled materials reduce carbon emissions -Recycle paper, glass, metal and plastic -Recycle helps save trees Heating: -Reducing the amount of heat you use helps save the environment -It draws more then half of home energy -Turning the thermostat down while going to bed reduces the amount of energy used

-Fluorescent Light Bulbs help fight climate change -Reduce the amount of fossil fuels -You will save about 100 pounds of carbon by switching to these light bulbs -They don’t use heat as a lightning mechanism -Use about two thirds less energy then a normal incandescent light bulb

Ways to reduce Global Warming -Hang up a clothes line it reduces amount of time your dryer is running -Take public transportation -Pay bills online, it reduces amount of paper used -Open windows rather then using heat or air conditioning -Use solar panels -Buy more gas efficient vehicles -Use bags other then plastic at the grocery store -Shut off your computer to reduce the amount of energy needed
