Hemingway´s life: Ernest Miller Hemingway (Oak Park 1899 – Ketchum 1961) was a journalist and important author of XX century, he was from USA. In 1953 he won the Pulitzer prize for “The old man and the Sea” and in 1954 he also won the Nobel prize of literature. In his infancy Hemingway was interested in literature, music, boxing, waterpolo and rugby. He voluntarily participated in the Second World War and previously he had participated in the First World War, where he won the silver medal to the value by the Italian government, because he had rescued dragging an Italian soldier with wounded legs and a broke knee. Hemingway´s life: In his life five stages are distinguished. The first stage is with his family in Illinois and Míchigan, later he was moveded to Kansas to work as a reporter. When the FWW started, Hemingway was enlisted in the army of the United States and he moved to Italy, that is the second stage. After the FWW Hemingway came back to the USA, and later moved again, now to France, in his third stage. Later he moved to Spain, where he participated in the Spanish civil war and in the SWW, this is the forth stage. “The old man and the Sea”, summary: This novel is about an old fisherman that hadn´t got a fish for 84 days because of this he is very sad and disappointed. He entered to the sea searchering for fish, until one day he found the biggest fish that he had ever seen. He fished the fish and he came back home, but while he was doing it, some sharks ate the fish until the fisherman was getting home, there was nothing about the great fish left.
