How to dress in Italy Your clothing will be perceived as a reflection of your social standing. Never wear scuffed, unshined or unfashionable shoes. No J’s or sneakers. Men should wear expensive ties and well-cut dark suits. No jeans. Men also often wear tie clips, cuff links, or stylish watches.

How to dress in Italy (cont.) You should only wear quality fabrics like lightweight wools and silks. Women are advised to dress simply with darker colors and accessorize with brighter colors. Women should also wear more makeup and jewelry. Perfumes are usually used by men and women.

Good Business gifts in Italy Refrain from giving a gift unless you receive one first. Your gift should be a small expensive gift that is not obviously expensive. Alcohol or crafts from your own country are smart choices. Also fine pens, flowers, silver key chains, and chocolates make good gifts as well.

Bad business gifts in Italy Gifts that showcase your company logo. Gifts wrapped in black, purple or gold paper. Black is the color of mourning and purple is the color of bad luck. Don’t give knives or sharp objects. May be interpreted as severing a friendship.
