What is the food pyramid?

Grains Group 6 servings  Bread  Pasta  Cereal  Rice  Grain foods contain carbohydrates, which give your body energy.

Vegetables 5 servings or 2.5 cups  Broccoli  Green beans  Peas  Carrots  Vegetables are rich in nutrients, such as vitamin C and potassium, which your body needs to work properly. Veggies also contain fiber, which aid digestion.

Fruits 4 daily servings or 2 cups  Apples  Bananas  Strawberries  Peaches  Watermelon  Like vegetables, fruits are rich in nutrients your body needs. Fruit is also naturally low in calories and fat.

Milk 3 cups/servings  Milk  Yogurt  Cheese  Dairy foods contain calcium, a mineral needed for strong bones.

Meat and Beans 5.5 ounce equivalents or servings  Meat  Poultry  Fish  Dry beans  Eggs  Nuts  Your body needs protein to maintain itself. Your muscles, organs, and immune system are made up of mostly protein.
